HelpAge International, founded in 1983 by five organizations from Canada, Colombia, Kenya, India, and the UK, supports a global network focused on older people’s rights and well-being. The network now includes over 180 members across 93 countries, collectively raising and spending over £1bn annually on projects for older people. Its members are diverse and non-exclusive, with a focus on commitment to improving the lives of older individuals. Many members come from lower- and middle-income countries, and the network includes prominent organizations like AARP, DaneAge, and Age UK.

HelpAge International is recognized as an expert on ageing and has strong relationships with governments, regional bodies, and international organizations like WHO and UNFPA. It is also a strategic partner of Swedish SIDA and a co-owner of the International Civil Society Centre.

The Board of Trustees, driven by a passion for older people’s rights, oversees the organization’s direction, ensuring it remains solvent, well-run, and delivers its charitable goals. Trustees volunteer their time and expertise, with duties including compliance, care, and prudence. The Board meets twice a year, once in-person and once virtually, with additional time spent advocating for and learning about ageing issues. Trustees also serve as ambassadors for the organization, representing HelpAge at regional forums.

HelpAge International ensures that each Trustee receives the necessary resources and support to be effective in their role. New Trustees undergo a thorough induction process, and senior staff are available as valuable resources on ageing issues. The organization fosters a culture that encourages interaction between Trustees and senior staff. Additionally, Trustees are encouraged to attend workshops and seminars to enhance their effectiveness.

Interested and experienced individuals are encouraged to carefully read the details of the Trustee Recruitment Pack and submit their Cover Letters and CVs only to Jobs@helpage.org not later than Friday 10 January 2025. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
