HelpAge Mozambique is a new local association supporting the rights and needs of older people in Mozambique. Established as part of HelpAge International’s transition to locally-led models, the organization aims to continue HelpAge International’s work since 1993 on social protection, health, and inclusive humanitarian aid for older adults, dependents, and people with disabilities.
HelpAge Mozambique envisions a society where older adults lead dignified, active, and secure lives. Its strategy includes income security, healthy aging, inclusive humanitarian support, and creating an age-inclusive society. The organization collaborates with government entities, development partners, UN agencies, and academic institutions. Key responsibilities for leadership include building the team, establishing visibility, ensuring financial and operational health, managing programs, resource development, board governance, and monitoring and evaluation (MEAL). Additionally, the leader will engage with government, networks, and platforms to advocate for older adults and represent the organization in public forums.
The role requires a Mozambican national with experience in senior management, strategic planning, program development, and partnership-building. Essential skills include fundraising, team leadership, fluency in Portuguese and English, and financial management. A background in social sciences and experience with aging issues is advantageous.
