HelpAge International, a network of over 170 organizations across 90+ countries, supports older adults in living safe, dignified, and healthy lives. Guided by its “Ageing in a Just World” 2030 strategy, HelpAge aims to advance inclusivity and wellbeing for older populations globally.
As part of its evolution, HelpAge is shifting to a partner-led programming (PLP) model, focusing on localizing operations and empowering community partners to lead program design and implementation. This change will involve phasing out HelpAge-run programs in favor of collaboration with local agents of change. HelpAge will now prioritize supporting, convening, and thought leadership through a global model that emphasizes local relationships.
The PLP approach aims to empower partners by shifting resources, providing skill-sharing, and amplifying local voices. HelpAge has developed a PLP roadmap to guide this transition, focusing on culturally attuned systems and staff training.
For training, HelpAge seeks to equip its staff with effective partnership skills, including relationship management, collaboration, negotiation, and conflict resolution. Training will use practical, virtual methods suitable for a global workforce, ensuring participants develop skills to foster productive partnerships.
