Today, hunger is the world’s most shocking problem and toughest challenge.
One in eight people on this planet are living with the pain of hunger. And yet, our planet provides enough food for everyone.
It’s unfair, it’s unjust and it’s totally preventable.
More older people die of malnutrition than any other age group, including children aged 0-5. Everyone deserves the right to live free from hunger, whatever their age.
We believe in a world in which everyone gets enough food.
Act now to stop this injustice
Today, a joint campaign has been launched by the UK’s leading development agencies – including Age International – to tackle hunger and malnutrition around the world.
We want 2013 to be a year in which we make dramatic progress towards ending the global hunger crisis.
Through our actions, we can persuade governments to act too, and when they do, everyone on this planet will have the chance of getting the food they need to live a healthy, happy life.
There are four big Ifs:
1. IF the UK government commits itself to spending 0.7% on overseas aid (that’s less than 1 pence in the pound), and uses its influence to persuade other countries to do the same, then we could help free millions of people from hunger
2. IF we put pressure on the UK governments and multinational companies to pay their taxes, we could help free millions from hunger
3. IF we ensure that farmers have access to land to feed themselves, we could help free millions from hunger
4. And IF we force governments and multinationals to be transparent, we could help free millions from hunger.
We can press our leaders to make these big Ifs happen, and IF they do, there really will be enough food for everyone.
Please support the campaign and take action now by visiting the Enough Food If website.
Thank you.
