Hundreds of people of all ages took action in Europe last year to show their solidarity with older activists across the globe.
They took action to support older people worldwide who are standing up for their rights and fighting against discrimination.
In the UK, activists drew a lot of attention when they gathered in front of the Houses of Parliament in London and raised their index fingers at 1pm on 1 October!
Whilst in Oxfordshire, members of Age Concern launched a powerful exhibition of photographs which linked older people in the UK with those in South Africa.
In Ireland, there was a whole week of awareness raising and campaigning activities and in Slovenia, a lively three day festival took place to celebrate the contribution of older people to society!
Older people in the Netherlands showed solidarity with those in developing countries by meeting at a community restaurant to watch video messages from people of their ages in both Uganda and the Philippines.
These campaigners have taken action in Europe to show older people in developing countries they are not alone and have the support of thousands of people across the globe.
They believe that all people should be treated equally in both dignity and rights, regardless of age.
