This year is the European Year for Active Ageing and Solidarity between Generations (EY2012). To further promote intergenerational solidarity, 29 April is the European day of Solidarity between Generations.

A new campaign launched today by HelpAge International is raising awareness amongst young people of what it means to be older. The Make it Ageless campaign will raise awareness of the rights and welfare of older people including those living in poorer countries, such as Kenya.

On Saturday 1 December the World’s HIV community will come together to mark World AIDS Day. This year we are focussed on ‘Getting to Zero’ in an effort to achieve a generation where no one dies of AIDS, no one newly acquires HIV, and the rights of all people living with or affected by HIV are upheld. While we, as a care and support community, fully endorse these three goals, we remain concerned about the limited attention being given to the care and support needs of those living with and affected by HIV and the lack of recognition of the crucial role of caregivers in the HIV response.

HelpAge International joined partnership with Tony Blair Faith Foundation to engage with students across the globe about issues that affect older people and knowledge about their faiths and beliefs.

On 22 July the HIV world’s attention will be turned to Washington D.C. as the International AIDS Conference, AIDS 2012, gets underway.
